Autism Acceptance Month

April 21, 2026

Autism Acceptance Month đź’™

At Dorset Children’s Foundation, we’re proud to support 712 children, with over 550 of these children being neurodivergent.

For us, this month is about more than awareness — it’s about acceptance, understanding, and creating meaningful support for the whole family.

Through our services, we aim to walk alongside families at every stage of their journey…

✨ Accessible activities through our Accessible for All programme
Including inclusive skate park sessions, Co-Motion (music and movement), adapted cycling, Wet Wheels boat trips and more

🧩 Sensory Seekers
Our new monthly stay & play sessions, specifically designed for children with more profound autism and high support needs, including non-speaking children

🌟 Little Stars (Early Years Support)
Two weekly stay & play groups supporting families in those crucial early years

đź’› Parent & Carer Wellbeing
Yoga, “me time” sessions and sewing groups — because supporting the whole family matters

♿ Equipment Lending Library
Providing access to specialist equipment such as larger buggies and off-road wheelchairs, helping families get out and about

🛍️ Work Experience Opportunities
Supporting teens and young adults with ASD to gain confidence and skills through retail-based work experience in our charity shops

But what matters most…

We create spaces where children can be understood and accepted, and where families feel supported by people who truly “get it”.
