GKTW is a non profit ‘story book’ resort in central Florida, where children with life threatening illnesses and their families are treated to a week long cost free holiday.
The DCF are delighted that we have been accepted as an official wish giving charity for Give Kids The World.
When a child is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, a family’s life changes forever. They face an obstacle course littered with doctor appointments, painful treatments, overwhelming expenses and endless worry however, when a family arrives at Give Kids The World Village, they quickly realise that this is a special place.
During the day, they visit the world-famous attractions and theme parks of Central Florida. In the evening, they return to The Village teeming with themed parties, events and surprises.
Each day offers an amazing experience. Parents see their children smiling and laughing – things that they haven’t done in weeks, months, even years.
A trip to Give Kids The World Village gives families time together, inspiring a renewed sense of hope and happiness that lasts long after they return home. In a very real sense, this offers the gift of time – time away from the burdens of everyday life and time to rediscover the joy of simply being together.
We are delighted that travel agent Julie Painter has volunteered her time and expertise to guide our families through every step of their fantastic trip. She has visited Disney many times and travelled with her disabled son so she has a true understanding of what is needed. Julie will plan everything for our families from visas to special assistance at the airport, so all our families will have to do themselves is pack.
We were able to send Noah and his family for a holiday of a lifetime.
They had a wonderful time and made lasting memories.
They have had an amazing time, visiting Universal Studio, Sea world, Magical Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. Noah’s mum Danni said “This place is amazing, nothing is too challenging for them, this really is the place where magical memories are made.”
