The Dorset Children’s Foundation has asked parents of disabled children what they want Government to focus on during COVID-19 recovery. Here’s what they said:

“Physically disabled and neurodiverse children should not be forgotten. They still need access to resources they would get at school, and NHS care for this group should stop being viewed as “non-essential”.

“The government needs to stop viewing disabled children as one homogenous group. Longer term support is needed for parents with clinically vulnerable children who may be shielding for longer”.

“There is a need for more financial support for families of disabled children and greater access to therapies at home”.
